Epilepsy and Seizures
Recognized as a Level 3 Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, The Hauenstein Neuroscience Center at Saint Mary’s Epilepsy Program is one of only four centers in Michigan, and the only comprehensive Epilepsy Program in West Michigan for adults. Our team focuses on providing an accurate diagnosis along with a full range of medical and surgical treatment options, offering new hope for people with epilepsy and seizure disorders.
We offer an interdisciplinary team approach to care which includes three certified neurologists specializing in epilepsy, highly trained epilepsy nurses, EEG technicians and support staff, neurosurgeons, as well as West Michigan’s first epileptologist. Our state-of-the-art facility and monitoring equipment includes a six-bed epilepsy monitoring unit for optimization of epilepsy medical management and surgical evaluation.
Saint Mary’s offers the latest neurological imaging technology to help pinpoint a patient’s condition. Our Video EEG Monitoring provides advanced brain activity monitoring capabilities, and assures patients that their treatment is enhanced by state-of-the-art technology.
Surgical treatment includes the procedure known as temporal lobe surgery, a breakthrough treatment that has proven safe and effective. This surgery has helped many epilepsy patients regain control of their condition with low surgical risk.
